Date Night... at a Gas Station

Blair and I spent this past Saturday night with our good friends, Norm and Carol. Their good friend, Aaron, was visiting from L.A. so they invited us out to a gourmet dinner at "one of the best places we've eaten at out here" (meaning Dallas). Not sure what this says about DFW, but the gourmet restaurant they were taking us to was housed in a Conoco convenient store/gas station... and it was FABULOUS!!!

The brief story behind the Chef Point Cafe in Watuaga, TX (just outside Ft. Worth) is this: Chef Franson Nwaeze and his wife wanted to open a restaurant, but were unable to find financing due to their lack of experience. They were, however, able to obtain financing for a filling station... after adding a complete kitchen to a station they purchased, they opened for business in 2003. Their story has been featured in Paula Deen's magazine, as well as on various TV shows, etc., which is how Norm and Carol found out about it. The food is well worth the drive - no matter where in DFW you live!

Landry in 3-D... no glasses required

We had our 3-D sonogram today! For the first 30 minutes, Landry wasn't cooperating so well, but neither was the placenta. Either his arms or hands were obstructing his little face or the placenta was in the way. Finally... towards the end of the session, he moved just enough that the technician was able to get some great shots of his entire face - chubby cheeks and all! He has his daddy's nose and his mommy's lips and really big feet, which I think takes after his sister :) To be able to put a face to our little guy is remarkable. I think Blair and I made one adorably cute little boy if I do say so myself... ;)

Verrette Baby Story

Blair and I decided on the baby's name... LANDRY DALE VERRETTE

Dale is in memory of Blair's father, who passed away 4 years ago this July. Blair is the last "Verrette", so that is one of the reasons we are so excited to be having a little boy, he'll be able to carry on the Verrette namesake.

This is the first entry about the baby and my pregnancy, so it's a little lengthy. Below is a summary of the first 27 weeks of our long awaited pregnancy.

As most of our family & friends are aware, we had to wait 1 year and 9 months to be blessed with this pregnancy. We found out in early March that I was pregnant and Blair and I couldn't have been more thrilled! The pregnancy has been a breeze so far, although I almost hate to put that in writing since I still have 12 weeks to go... no morning sickness, no sore boobs, no extra tiredness, etc. Until I started feeling Landry move inside of me, I was relieved at every doctor's appointment when we were able to see him on the sonogram or hear his heart beating - I needed proof I was pregnant!

The second trimester has been full of heartburn and a few leg cramps here and there, but I really can't complain. We waited so long for this little guy that I would have endured pretty much anything and if heartburn is it, I'm just all the more lucky!!!

First hint I was pregnant! I ended up taking about 10 home pregnancy tests.

6 Weeks Preggo (just finished working out = crazy hair and no make-up = lovely picture)

Landry's first sonogram at 7.5 weeks - what an adorable little peanut!

13 Weeks

17 Weeks (another crazy hair pic - I hope I had just finished working out...)

We found out at our 19 week sonogram that we were having a little boy!!! My doctor's exact words were "its got a wiener!" Blair and I were extremely excited and we wanted Ireland to be the first to know, so we picked her up after the appt and took her for ice cream. We gave her a bag full of blue jelly belly's to help give her the news.
